Pikachu Amigurumi Free Pattern

This free Pikachu amigurumi pattern recreates the beloved Pokémon with pointed ears, red cheeks, zigzag tail and tiny embroidered details.

The original design is by Olka Novytska. The Spanish translation credits Mirigumis / Miriam García Gayo. Pikachu belongs to The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures.

  crochet hook and 1.25 mm hook for the cheeks
• Iris 100% cotton yarn, 150 m / 25 g, one strand: yellow, brown, black and red
• Sewing needle

Body and legs

• Round 6 combines sc, dc and dtr increases to shape the lower body, ending with 38 stitches.
• Round 7: 5 sc, inc, 1 sc, 10 hdc, 7 sc, 10 hdc, 3 sc, inc [40]
• Rounds 8-10: 8 sc, 10 hdc, 7 sc, 10 hdc, 5 sc [40]
• Rounds 11-19: decrease gradually from 36 to 32 stitches, then work 32 stitches and 3 extra stitches to even the edge. Stuff gradually.
• Front legs x2: MR, 6 sc; (1 sc, inc) x3 [9]; rounds 3-5: 9 sc; rounds 6-7: 2 sl st, 5 sc, 2 sl st; round 8: 2 sl st, 4 sc.

Ears, eyes, cheeks and spots

• Ears x2: start black, MR, 3 sc; 3 inc [6]; (1 sc, inc) x3 [9]; one round 9 sc.
• Round 5: (2 sc, inc) x3 [12]. change to yellow and work rounds 6-14 with 12 sc. Round 15: (2 sc, dec) x3 [9].
• Eyes x2: black, 1 mm hook, MR, 6 sc. Leave a long tail for sewing.
• Cheeks x2: red, 1.25 mm hook, MR, 6 sc, sl st. Leave a long tail for sewing.
• Back spots x2: brown, 11 ch, from second chain make 10 sc. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Tail and assembly

• Tail: yellow, 14 ch. Work an oval base of 28 stitches and continue rounds 2-9 with 28 sc.
• Rounds 10-15 shape the zigzag: skip the indicated stitches, add 9 ch where needed, and crochet around the chain openings.
• Join brown yarn from round 16, keep the angular shape, and close the final part after round 26. A plastic insert can be placed inside for firmness.
• Sew the body centered under the head. Place the hind legs symmetrically so Pikachu can stand.
• Sew the back spots with brown yarn, place the ears on top of the head, and embroider the small nose with thin black yarn.
• Sew eyes and cheeks symmetrically, add white highlights in the eyes, attach front legs under the head-body join, and sew the tail firmly to the back.
• Embroider the mouth with thin black yarn. Hide all ends inside the body.

Tips before sewing

• Use tight stitches because the pattern is very small.
• Pin the ears, cheeks, legs and tail before sewing.
• The tail can be reinforced with a thin plastic insert so it keeps the zigzag shape.
