Coraline Amigurumi Free Pattern

This free Coraline amigurumi pattern keeps the doll’s raincoat, blue hair and tiny accessories in a clear step-by-step structure.

The original design is credited to @calypso.boutiquee. You may make and share the doll, but do not sell the pattern and keep the designer credit.

  cotton yarn: cream, dark blue, indigo blue, yellow, orange, pink, light brown and dark brown
• 1.2 mm crochet hook
• 8 mm safety eyes
• Soft wire or pipe cleaners, optional
• Fiberfill stuffing
• False eyelashes

Pattern

Arms

• Arms x2, start with skin color. MR, 6 sc [6]
• (2 sc, inc) x2 [8]
• Rounds 3-4: 8 sc
• Round 5: change to pink, BLO, (3 sc, inc) x2 [10]
• Round 6: 10 sc
• Rounds 7-8: change to orange, 10 sc
• Rounds 9-10: change to pink, 10 sc
• Rounds 11-12: change to orange, 10 sc
• Rounds 13-14: change to pink, 10 sc
• Rounds 15-16: change to orange, 10 sc. Fasten off. Add pipe cleaner only if desired and safe for the final use.

Legs and body

• Legs x2, start dark brown. MR, 6 sc [6]
• 6 inc [12]
• (1 sc, inc) x6 [18]
• With yellow, work 18 sl st in BLO as a decorative half round.
• Round 4: BLO, 6 sc, 3 dec, 6 sc [15]
• Rounds 5-10: 15 sc
• Round 11: FLO, 15 sc
• Join indigo blue to the back loops from round 10: 15 sc. Then work (3 sc, dec) x3 [12].
• Rounds 13-18: 12 sc. Finish only one leg. On the second leg, make 3 ch and join to continue the body.
• Body R19: 11 sc on one leg, 3 sc on chains, 12 sc on other leg, 3 sc on chains [30]
• Round 20: (4 sc, inc) x6 [36]
• Rounds 21-27: shape the waist with two side increases, then decrease to 30 stitches.
• Round 28: (4 sc, dec) x5 [25]; then change to pink and work 25 sl st in BLO.
• Rounds 29-36: alternate pink and orange stripes, decreasing to 16 stitches.
• Round 37: join the flattened arms to the body, keeping 16 stitches around.
• Round 38: (2 sc, dec) x4 [12]; change to skin color for neck rounds 39-41, ending with 8 stitches.

Head, hair and ears

• Head R1: FLO, 8 inc [16]
• Increase each round to 24, 32, 40, 48, 54 and 60 stitches.
• Rounds 8-17: 60 sc. Place the 8 mm safety eyes between rounds 13 and 14, 10 stitches apart.
• Decrease from round 18 to round 26 until 6 stitches remain. Fasten off.
• Hair: in dark blue, MR, 8 sc; 8 inc; (1 sc, inc) x8; (2 sc, inc) x8 [32].
• Strands 1-22: 26 ch, then 1 sc and 24 hdc.
• Strands 23-25: 32 ch, then 1 sc and 30 hdc. Leave 7 stitches unworked and sew the longer strands to the side.
• Ears x2: MR, 5 sc; 5 inc [10]. Leave a long tail for sewing. Sew to the sides of the head.

Raincoat, hood, bag and firefly

• Raincoat: with yellow, 25 ch, then 24 sc. Work the armhole row with 6-chain openings and increases to 28 stitches.
• Continue the coat with 28, 32, 36 and 40 stitch rows as in the original shaping, keeping the edges even.
• Work single crochet around the coat edge and sleeves. Sleeves: join yellow to the unworked armhole stitches, work 14 to 16 stitches for 11 rounds.
• Hood: join yarn at the marked stitch; increase from 30 to 50 stitches and work 15 rounds at 50 stitches.
• For the hood extension, work 18 stitches, increase to 20 and then 22 stitches, and continue until the hood has enough depth.
• Bag: with light brown, 9 ch, 8 sc; work 14 rows, shape flap, crochet around the rectangle, fold in thirds and sew.
• Firefly: blue base of 9 ch with sl st, sc, hdc and dc; add pink wings on both sides and sew or glue to the hair.

Tips before sewing

• Pin the hair and hood before sewing so the face stays balanced.
• Stuff the legs, neck and head gradually to avoid lumps.
• If the doll is for a child, omit the internal wire or pipe cleaners.
